200 Disappointment

The smell of smoke in the car was very strong. Shen Yin covered her nose uncomfortably and reached out to open the car door.

“Where are you taking me?” Shen Yin asked coldly. “Cheng Huo, let me go back now. We can still be friends.”

There was only heartache in Cheng Huo’s eyes. Even his voice was trembling. “I just want a chance to compete fairly with Lian Jing. Can’t I?”

Shen Yin shook her head helplessly. “You know that Lian Jing and I already have a son.”

“So what? What if I don’t care? What if I say that I don’t care at all and will treat you and your son well?” Cheng Huo shouted hysterically. The car suddenly stopped at the entrance of the National Phoenix Hotel and he turned around to look at her pleadingly. “I’ve never been so interested by a woman before. Shen Yin, can you give me a chance?”

Shen Yin was still shaking her head.

Cheng Huo sighed deeply, feeling utterly powerless. “At least let me celebrate your birthday once.”

He got out of the car and opened the door for Shen Yin. Then, he looked at the hotel behind him and said with a smile, “Do you remember the time we had dinner together? You thought that Sister and I had that kind of relationship.”

Speaking of that, Shen Yin looked up at the hotel sign and smiled. “Yes, I even met Lian Jing here when I came with Li Zi.”

Cheng Huo frowned in frustration when she kept mentioning that man. He turned around and walked into the hotel. Sensing that Shen Yin was not following him, he calmed down and coaxed softly, “I just want to show you the gift I prepared.”

Seeing that Shen Yin was unmoved, he could only lower his eyes in compromise. “Then I’ll bring it out. Will you wait for me?”

This time, Shen Yin nodded. She would take it as a farewell, so that he would not be obsessed with her anymore.

Cheng Huo soon returned. A staff member stood behind him with a bouquet. Cheng Huo took a box from his pocket, opened it, and got down on one knee in front of Shen Yin. “I promise you that I’ll treat you better than Lian Jing. I’ll also take care of your son like he’s my own son. I only ask that you to give me a chance, okay?”

“What are you doing?” Shen Yin panicked and took a few steps back. Her body suddenly bumped into something hard, and a familiar aura enveloped her from behind.

“What are you doing?” Lian Jing looked coldly at the woman in his arms.

He had seen her get into Cheng Huo’s car. He had seen her come to the hotel with another man and enjoy a proposal ceremony that someone else had prepared for her.

His fists were clenched so tightly that his knuckles were cracking. The veins on his forehead were bulging. Lian Jing suddenly raised his fist and smashed it at Cheng Huo’s face.

Not to be outdone, Cheng Huo flung aside the ring in his hand and raised his fist to punch Lian Jing.

However, he was clearly no match for Lian Jing. The right side of his face swelled up from Lian Jing’s punch.

He tugged at his tie and indignantly spat out a mouthful of blood. He looked at Lian Jing provocatively. “Go ahead and hit me. I just like Shen Yin. So what?”

Lian Jing looked at him sinisterly. “Then I’ll teach you who Shen Yin belongs to!”

He punched Cheng Huo again. Shen Yin hurriedly hugged his arm. “Stop hitting him. Let’s go home.”

Lian Jing shook her off coldly. “Move aside. I’ll settle the score with you later.”

“Enough!” Shen Yin hurriedly stepped between them. She looked at the furious Lian Jing and said anxiously, “Today is my birthday. Let’s talk when we get home, okay?”

Lian Jing panted heavily, and his eyes became colder. He looked at Shen Yin, who was determined to protect Cheng Huo, and sneered. He turned around and walked back to the car.

Shen Yin hurriedly followed, not even looking at Cheng Huo.

Before she could fasten her seatbelt, Lian Jing stomped on the accelerator and the car sped back to the Lian residence.

“Lian Jing, listen to my explanation!” Shen Yin chased him all the way into the room. Even Shen Nian could tell that something was amiss between them. Worried, he hid outside the door and eavesdropped.

Lian Jing looked at her indifferently. “Shen Yin, from the moment you lied to me, there was nothing more to explain.”

Shen Yin pursed her lips and her body trembled slightly. “What do you mean?”

Lian Jing walked to the window in frustration and took out his cigarette box out of habit. He thought of the fickle woman behind him and flung the cigarette aside. “You promised me that we wouldn’t lie or quarrel.”

“I’m not lying to you.” Shen Yin lowered her eyes and sighed. “I just asked you to make soup.”

“But you got into his car!” Lian Jing roared as he approached Shen Yin and pinched her chin tightly. “I’ve never been in a relationship because I’ve never believed in love. Shen Yin, you’ve disappointed me greatly.”
