The next morning, the television in the living room was turned up so loud that no one could continue sleeping.
Song Yan’s recovery had progressed extremely well. In the corridor, he sat in a wheelchair full of vigor as he played noisy songs over a loudspeaker. He came to a stop in front of Jin Yang and Qiu Tong’s bedroom.
It was only when Qiu Tong walked out rubbing her sleepy eyes that Song Yan smiled wickedly. “I’m hungry.”

Qiu Tong stared at him helplessly as she slammed the door behind her and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
Song Yan sat smugly in the living room. He was feeling bored as he switched between television channels and glanced at Qiu Tong from time to time.
Qiu Rong returned from his morning jog and saw Song Yan slumped on the sofa. He stared at him with a scrutinizing expression.
Song Yan blinked and hurriedly stood up with his walking stick. He smiled ingratiatingly. “You’re Uncle Qiu, right? I’m Qiu Tong’s good friend. I’ve often heard her mention you in the past. I didn’t expect you to be so young!”
Qiu Rong looked at his facial features that were identical to Jin Yang’s. He asked with a frown, “Your relationship with Jin Yang is…?”
Song Yan’s eyes darkened for a moment before he smiled and answered, “He’s my brother. We are twins, but our personalities are different!”
“You might not know, but I have a good relationship with the children. They’re actually my…”
Just as Song Yan was about to tell him about the paternity test, Qiu Tong walked up to him and purposely knocked against his wound when handing him the breakfast tray.
Song Yan instantly broke out in cold sweat. He was in so much pain that he had to crouch over. He whispered in Qiu Tong’s ear, “You’re too ruthless!”
Qiu Tong gritted her teeth and threatened, “You’d better not spout nonsense, or I’ll make sure your wound never heals!”
Song Yan silently chewed on the burnt toast. He met Qiu Rong’s puzzled eyes and explained, “Qiu Xingyuan and the rest happen to be the kind of children I like. I get along very well with them.”
Qiu Rong felt that there seemed to be a special relationship between him and Qiu Tong. He wanted to probe further.
The children ran out of the bedroom and surrounded Qiu Rong to distract him.
Jin Yang stared at Song Yan coldly and whispered, “Come out with me.”
Song Yan shrugged and followed him to the garden outside. Through the French windows, he could see the happy figures of the children playing with Qiu Rong. He stood facing Jin Yang with his walking stick. They stared at each other with disdain and contempt.
Song Yan cleared his throat and asked, “What? Do you want to hit me?”

“I can’t win you in a fight now, but if I’m heavily injured again, Qiu Tong will be very upset, right?”
“She hates being indebted to others, just like you. How long do you think she will remember my kindness?”
Song Yan raised his hand and pulled down the collar of his pajamas, revealing his exquisite collarbone. There was a clear red lipstick mark on it.
Song Yan had deliberately bumped into Qiu Tong when she was changing his bandage. He looked at Jin Yang proudly and said, “Your facial features are nearly identical to mine.”
“Do you think Qiu Tong will mix us up in the middle of the night and end up running to my bed…”
Smack! Jin Yang punched Song Yan’s left cheek.
Song Yan’s body swayed as he crashed into a metal rack in the garden. He was in so much pain that he grimaced. His eyes were filled with anger and viciousness as he growled, “You only know how to be a brute with me. When we were at the abandoned factory, you could have used the guards as cover to rush over and save Qiu Tong.”
“What were you thinking back then? Every time Qiu Tong is in danger, what else do you do but wait anxiously at the back?”
Song Yan raised his index finger and pointed it at Jin Yang. He spat out blood and gritted his teeth. “Jin Yang, I look down on you!”
“You’re a coward. You think you have many responsibilities on your shoulders, but in reality? You only hide behind your status!”
“No wonder Jin Tao chose to support you as the president back then. It’s because you’re easy to manipulate. Do you understand?”
Song Yan laughed wildly as he continued. “Sooner or later, you’ll lose everything you cherish, just like me! When the time comes, I want to see if you can rise again like me… you can’t!”
Jin Yang clenched his fists tightly. His eyes were filled with surging anger, but he quickly released his grip.
Under the glaring sun, Jin Yang walked to Song Yan and stared straight at him. “You don’t understand what responsibility is at all.”
Song Yan looked at him with mocking eyes and shook his head before turning to leave.
Qiu Tong frowned as she listened to their argument.
She had a nagging feeling that there seemed to be a deep estrangement and misunderstanding between the brothers, and this was definitely not something that happened overnight. Instead, it seemed to be caused by the accumulation of multiple problems over many years.
“Mommy, Grandpa went into the laboratory again!”
Qiu Xingyu ran to her side barefooted. She grumbled, “He’s been cooped up in the laboratory recently, refusing to play with me. He’s also unwilling to talk.”
“Does Grandpa not like me?”
