With Teacher Shen’s instruction, everyone in the class was forced to line up outside the classroom.

Bai Xi Xi and Fan Yuan stayed close to Teacher Shen as she conducted a spot check on everyone’s bag and desk. Each time that Teacher Shen stopped at a table, the students outside would peek to see if Teacher Shen would find the missing wallet.

Teacher Shen started with Bai Xi Xi’s desk first. Then, she moved to check on Fu Chen’s desk. After a while, she then moved to the next line.

Bai Xi Xi glanced at Jian Chi and noticed the confused look on the boy’s face.

She probably knew what was going through Jian Chi’s mind. He was probably confused to see that Teacher Shen did not find anything in Fu Chen’s bag.

With the way Jian Chi had placed the wallet, Teacher Shen would be able to find it the moment she opened Fu Chen’s bag.

Jian Chi stepped forward as if he was about to say something. But then, he took a step back, realizing that it was probably not a wise decision to speak at this moment.

The spot check continued.

Bai Xi Xi could see that both Fan Yuan and Jian Chi were getting more restless for different reasons. Meanwhile, Teacher Shen was beginning to show a sign of irritation.

This was supposed to be the time for her to teach the class. However, the lesson was disturbed because of this spot check.

After a while, Teacher Shen finally reached Jian Chi’s seat. She rummaged through his bag and desk. His belongings were scattered on the table.

Just then, Fan Yuan saw something familiar on the table. His eyes widened and he quickly reached to take the wallet. Fan Yuan checked inside before looking at Teacher Shen again. “Teacher Shen, this is my wallet.”

Teacher Shen frowned. “Are you sure?”

Fan Yuan pulled a few things from the wallet to show Teacher Shen some proof.

Seeing this, Teacher Shen turned to look at the students who were lining up outside the classroom. “Whose seat is this?”

There was a long silence.

Everyone knew the owner of the seat but did not dare to say anything.

It took Fan Yuan a while to realize that the seat belonged to Jian Chi. Fan Yuan turned around to look at Jian Chi and saw the confused look on Jian Chi’s face.

Jian Chi was his friend and the two of them had a good relationship. They were considered brothers who would often be there for each other. Fan Yuan did not think that Jian Chi would steal his wallet.

Fan Yuan began to suspect that someone probably wanted to mess up with Jian Chi and ruin their friendship.

“Whose seat is this?” Teacher Shen roared when no one answered her question. Finally, she turned to Bai Xi Xi and spoke, “You should know whose seat this is.”

Bai Xi Xi glanced at the wallet in Fan Yuan’s hand. Then, she looked at the students who were lined outside the class. “Teacher Shen, this is Jian Chi’s desk.”

Hearing her answer, Teacher Shen turned around to find Jian Chi among the students. She quickly found that boy and looked at him in anger. “Jian Chi, did you take Fan Yuan’s wallet?”

Jian Chi’s face turned pale at Teacher’s Shen question. “Teacher Shen, it was not me.”

His eyes narrowed as he realized that everyone was looking at him.

Jian Chi was someone who enjoyed being the center of attention. However, he would never have thought that he had become the center of attention like this. His hands tightened into fists as he tried to control his anger. Jian Chi wondered just who was it that dared to set him up.

“If it was not you then who is it?” Teacher Shen spoke. “The wallet was found on your desk. Jian Chi, you better explain everything to me now. Otherwise, we can go to the principal’s office and let him judge this matter.”

Jian Chi knew that the situation would turn bad if he was brought to the principal’s office. Moreover, if the principal decided to call his parents, then he would only be in trouble.

Fan Yuan watched the panic on Jian Chi’s face and stepped forward, “Teacher Shen, I don’t think that Jian Chi stole my wallet.”

Teacher Jian shifted her gaze at Fan Yuan and narrowed her eyes dangerously. “Fan Yuan, what do you mean? In the beginning, it was you who said that someone stole your wallet. And now you are saying that it’s not? Fan Yuan, do you think I like wasting my time like this?”

Too much time was wasted just to look for Fan Yuan’s wallet. If the students planned to play around, Teacher Shen would not be happy.

“No.” Fan Yuan glanced at Jian Chi anxiously. “What I mean is, this could be a misunderstanding. Teacher Shen, I don’t think that Jian Chi would steal my wallet. Perhaps I accidentally dropped my wallet and it was Jian Chi who kept it safe for me.” The moment he said those words, Fan Yuan began to think that this explanation made sense. “Yes. That should be the reason.”

“Yes. Teacher Shen, I forgot,” Jian Chi spoke quickly. “Fan Yuan dropped his wallet earlier and I was keeping it for him. I was planning to return it to him after class. It must have slipped my mind.”

Teacher Shen shifted her gaze between the two students. The look on her face showed that she did not believe their nonsense.
