699 His Public Apology

Unfortunately for Jian Chi, no matter how unwilling he was to apologize to both Fu Chen and Bai Xi Xi, he had no other choice but to listen to his father’s command.

During recess, Jian Chi headed to the cafeteria under his father’s watchful eyes and stood at the center of the space, preparing for his public apology. His hand was gripping the microphone in his hand tightly.

Jian Chi’s face turned pale, noticing the way his friends were looking at him.

It was humiliating!

However, this only made his anger towards Bai Xi Xi and Fu Chen rose. He made a promise to himself that he was not going to let both of them get away easily.

“You can speak now,” Jian Xuan nudged his son’s shoulder. “Go on. The sooner you apologized, the sooner this will end.”

Jian Chi gritted his teeth. He raised his head to look at his friends before he lowered his head again. Taking a deep breath, Jian Chi finally opened his mouth and apologize to both Bai Xi Xi and Fu Chen.

“Yesterday, there were some rumors surrounding student Bai Xi Xi and Fu Chen,” Jian Chi said. “I am here to confess that the person who started the rumor was me.”

There were loud gasps around the hall. Then, the students started to discuss this matter. No one would expect that the person who started the rumor would be Jian Chi.

Even those who were close to him did not expect that Jian Chi was the one who started the rumor. When they heard him speak about the rumor, everyone assumed that Jian Chi should have heard the rumor from somewhere else.

“The person who posted the misleading photos on the school forum was also me.” Jian Chi closed his eyes, not daring to look at the people around him. He could hear the voices, talking about him. “It was a thoughtless act and I realized that this joke has gotten too far.”

Bai Xi Xi snickered upon hearing his words.

In the end, Jian Chi told everyone that what he was doing was merely a joke. Was he hoping that the students would forgive him easily because of his intention?

“For that...” Jian Chi paused and hesitated. He was not willing to continue, but his father was nudging him on his waist. His hands on both sides tightened into fists. “I apologize.” He turned to look in the direction where Bai Xi Xi and Fu Chen were standing. “Bai Xi Xi, Fu Chen, I am sorry. I hope that you both could forgive me for making such a joke. I promise that I won’t do this thing again in the future.”

Then, he bent forward, bowing in their direction to show his sincerity in his apology.

Zhang Li Xue shifted his gaze to her sister-in-law and spoke, “Xi Xi, Fu Chen, what do you think?”

Bai Xi Xi was obviously not satisfied with Jian Chen’s apology. In others’ eyes, he might look sincere. But Bai Xi Xi knew best that there was not an ounce of sincerity in his apology.

“It’s enough,” Bai Xi Xi said. “As long as he could clear my name and Fu Chen, this is enough.”

“You have embarrassed me!” Jian Xuan spoke angrily. “Spreading rumors about your friends and getting caught for it. Jian Chi, what were you thinking about?”

Jian Chi pursed his lips. He knew that answering would only make his father angrier.

“Of all those people in school, you chose to offend someone from the Zhang family!” Jian Xuan spoke. “Jian Chi, do you know that if the Zhang family was not happy, our family might not be able to survive in this city?”

The Zhang family might be involved in the hotel industry, but their connection was wide. This was the reason Jian Xuan was afraid of offending them.

“Dad? The Zhang family? I didn’t—”

“Your classmate, Bai Xi Xi is a relative of Zhang’s family. Don’t you know this?”

Jian Chi’s eyes widened in surprise. He had thought that the rumors about Bai Xi Xi coming from a reputable family was merely a rumor. He did not think that they were true.

It was then that Jian Chi understood the reason his father has been so angry.

“I will arrange for you to be transferred to another school,” Jian Xuan decided.

“Dad. I have my friends—”

“Otherwise, do you want to stay in this school and further embarrass yourself?” Jian Xuan sneered. “No. This time, you will have no choice but to listen to me.”
