"So, do you accept the Vrka Yuddha?" Akela glared at the Shadow Wolf.

Conan ignored the massive Wind Wolf as he looked around him, he looked at the Grey Wolf, his wife Jezra who was now nothing but a cold corpse. Then he looked at all the expectant eyes of the thousand wolves watching them.

He knew that Akela already succeeded, this Wind Wolf drove him into a tight spot. If he didn’t accept the challenge, he would lose respect from all his wolves.

Though he didn’t want to accept it, he knew that a large number of these wolves secretly cheered for him to lose and be killed.

He closed his eyes. ’I live to spite haters!"

As soon as he motivated himself, he opened his eyes which now glowed purple with mysterious shadows moving through them like clouds.

He looked at Akela. "You are an honorable Wolf, triggering an honest Vrka Yuddha to make yourself the Alpha but your honor will kill you".

"In the beast plane, there is no place for wolves with honor".

"Here, it’s either you’re ruthless and kill or be killed".

"Na?ve Wolf, I’ll teach you that in this Vrka Yuddha".

The next moment, Conan stood tall as he turned to face the thousand expectant wolf eyes that focused on them.

Then he howled loudly. "I accept the challenge!"

From the skies still fused with Bran, on seeing this sudden interface notification, Legolas was surprised as he looked at this challenge with renewed enthusiasm. He cheered his beast on. "Akela, you have to win".

Akela grinned. "Finally".

Instantly, Nymeria and all the other wolves deserted the rock, leaving the 2 challengers and giving them enough space to fight to the death.

Conan grinned. "How do you intend to die?"

"By a sneak attack or by a head-on overwhelming attack?"

"I…"

Akela barely spoke before black shadows appeared beside him.

Bzzz!

Conan was cunning, this was something that Akela already heard from Nymeria and confirmed after the ambush that almost killed him.

He would not fall for the same trick twice.

Instantly after Conan used his Shadow Blink ability, Akela’s eyes glowed as without hesitation, he activated his Nature Call ability.

"Awoo!"

With Akela’s howl came a mighty raging hurricane.

Conan arrived behind his opponent to be greeted with a dangerous hurricane. Despite the short time that he was exposed to it, the sharp wind already cut into his hide as blood flowed.

Defense was not exactly a Shadow Wolf’s forte, their defense was even weaker than Wind Wolves and was why Conan was an ambush predator.

Instantly after the sharp wind started cutting into his hide, Conan activated another ability as his black fur was coated by a shifting cloud of shadow energy.

With an instant burst of speed, he charged out of the shadows.

In the same rapid manner that he charged out, he also halted after escaping the range of the hurricane as he turned with his eyes turning darker.

"Awoo!"

With this howl from the Shadow Wolf, 3 Giant Shadow Spears appeared from 3 sides surrounding Akela as they ruthlessly plunged at this Wind Wolf.

This was when Akela finally moved.

His sleek body seemed to turn sleeker for a brief moment and in these moments, Akela already activated his Speed Demon active ability, the next moment, he exploded with speed towards Conan like a moving train.

This time, Conan could not dodge.

Boom!

Akela clashed against the mighty Shadow Wolf as he bared his teeth and claws, instantly activating both his Wind Claws and Bite Force active abilities.

Crunch!

The sound of Akela’s teeth sinking into his opponent’s hide was sickening, but Conan was not one to go down without a fight.

It was after biting that Akela noticed the thick gathering of shadow that now coated the Shadow Wolf’s hide.

Activating his only 2 defense abilities, Conan did not only increase the toughness of his hide but also turned it into a shadow quagmire that now trapped Akela after his bite.

After trapping Akela, he finally started his counterattack.

Conan growled. "Komodo Teeth!"

Instantly, this Shadow Wolf’s teeth became coated with a corrosive energy as he bit into Akela’s leg as a sizzling sound reverberated the next moment.

As his leg was corroded, Akela roared in pain.

Akela struggled fiercely to free himself from the shadow quagmire.

In the end, after struggling to no avail, he had no choice but to gather his energy and activate another Nature Call. As the hurricane arrived, Conan used his Shadow Blink ability again as he disappeared from the danger area.

Outside the hurricane’s area, he attacked again this time with his specialty.

The next moment, Conan’s 2 teeth that were bigger than the others, making them seem like tusks were suddenly launched out of his mouth like daggers.

Akela tried to swat at them with his claws but he was not fast enough.

The 2 deadly teeth empowered by corrosion energy dug into his hide close to his neck as Akela started bleeding even more from the damage.

The Wind Wolf thrashed about, trying to no avail to get the 2 corrosive teeth out of his body that were eating deeper into his neck by the second.

His predicament and sudden lack of concentration on his real enemy proved deadly, with Akela focusing on the teeth and trying to remove them, Conan finally made use of his deadliest ability, his specialty.

This massive Shadow Wolf growled. "Shadow Assassination!"

Bzzz!

Conan disappeared like he used his Shadow Blink ability.

Akela noticed it instantly as soon as his enemy disappeared and, in his panic, he turned around in a bid to bite at his enemy as soon as he appeared.

This time, Conan didn’t appear behind him though.

As soon as Akela turned, his shadow suddenly seemed to grow a will of its own. A shadow was supposed to be a loyal neutral companion that followed an individual throughout its life, but today, Akela’s shadow betrayed him.

Akela did not expect it as his own shadow tackled him to the ground before sinking its deadly teeth into his neck as he growled in pain.

Despite his struggles to free himself from the death grip of the shadow, the shadow bit deeper and rougher, overpowering him. Blood flowed like a fountain.

This was a deadly ability from Conan that had enabled him to kill countless Wolf Alphas to keep his territory since killing Gorgon, the Fire Wolf, none of his enemies were ever able to predict the move.

Once they saw it, they died.

Akela started feeling his vitality draining out of his body.

He felt his master’s intentions to save him but Akela was stubborn.

’No’. He growled at his master through their telepathic relationship.

With eyes opened wide as blood vessels filled it and his vitality rapidly draining, Akela held firm to his motivation. ’I must make my master proud!’

Doomed as a Wind Wolf that would not achieve anything before dying uneventfully was his destiny before he encountered Legolas. Encountering Legolas changed his life, his destiny changed, it made him become something.

Now, Akela was determined to repay his master’s favor.

Not even Conan could stop him from repaying the favor.

"Roar!"

Akela roared in a bid to gather strength to overpower the shadow but Conan was too powerful, he was unable to overpower the Shadow Wolf.

"Roar!"

He kept on roaring in desperation even as his vitality drained.

With total silence now reigning through this territory, the thousand wolves solemnly watched this Vrka Yuddha without interfering. They could feel Akela’s conviction to win, some of them wanted to help him but they could not.

"Roar!"

Akela roared again, unwilling to give in to despair.

"I cannot lose!"

"I cannot die!"

Amid his rampage to save his life, Akela suddenly remembered some words that his master spoke to him. Legolas once told him that he didn’t contract him due to his strength or talent, he rather contracted him due to his leadership abilities.

Akela’s eyes gleamed. "If I can’t do it alone, I’ll use others to do it".

Akela’s eyes glowed a deep brown color as he focused inside his body, trying to draw a strange power that he believed was there but hadn’t seen yet.

His belief was so strong that the imagination became reality.

"Roar!"

With one last roar, a reaction occurred, a resonance. All the wolves in this battlefield that sympathized with Akela felt a resonance as instantly, a white light started extending from their body towards Akela.

Akela’s eyes glowed brighter as he felt the new vitality and strength that was rapidly surging into his body from an artificial source.

Conan’s eyes widened in shock from the shadow.

Legolas’s virtual interface also lit up a notification.
