703 I Happen to Like Reading Books

Bai Xi Xi was surprised to find that her brother was at home that weekend. When she walked into the dining room, her brother was watching as Bai Jing Jing ate her porridge.

The little girl looked quite happy as she spooned the porridge into her mouth. Bai Jing Jing was very careful not to drop the porridge on her table.

After a while, Bai Jing Jing finally noticed her presence. She put down her spoon and smiled brightly. “Aunt!”

Bai Xi Xi laughed. Each time that Bai Jing Jing saw her, this little girl would shout out ‘Aunt’ in her sweet voice.

“Xi Xi, good morning,” Bai Qi greeted his little sister. “I made some porridge for breakfast and there was also some meat buns. Do you want to eat now?”

She walked over to Bai Jing Jing’s side and kissed the little girl on the cheek. Then, Bai Xi Xi raised her head and spoke, “It’s alright. I’ll wait for Bai Xiang and Qi Lin first.”

Before she came downstairs, Bai Xi Xi could already hear the boys’ voices. It was the weekend and the boys wanted to sleep a little more. However, their mother was urging them to wake up and take a shower quickly.

The little girl saw that her aunt was not eating and wanted to feed her with some of her porridge. “Aunt! For you. Eat!”

“No, Jing Jing should eat more,” Bai Xi Xi coaxed. “This way, you can grow up faster and play with your brothers.”

The little girl pondered over her words. She understood that she wanted to grow up faster and play. Then, Bai Jing Jing started to eat her food again.

“Is everything alright at school?”

Bai Xi Xi turned to her brother when she heard her brother’s question. “Mmm... Everything is good. Brother, don’t worry about me.”

The last time she had a problem with Jian Chi, her sister-in-law had mentioned this matter to her brother once the problem was settled. Although her brother did not say anything to her, Bai Xi Xi knew that her brother was worried.

“How can I not worry about you? You’re my sister.”

Bai Xi Xi lowered her head and smiled.

Although her brother was married and had a few kids, he would never stop worrying and caring for her. Bai Xi Xi thought that she was quite lucky to have a brother like him.

The siblings chatted a bit about her school while watching Bai Jing Jing eat. Bai Qi was finally at ease when he heard that his sister had a good time at school.

Bai Qi was never worried about his sister’s academics. He knew that his sister studied hard and was an excellent student. Each year, Bai Qi would have the chance to watch as his sister brought home a trophy for her excellent grade in school.

However, he would often worry that she did not get along with her classmates. Growing up, Bai Xi Xi did not have a lot of friends.

Bai Qi thought that perhaps, it might be because they would often move around when she was a little girl. This was why he was worried when his wife told him about the rumor about his sister at school. Fortunately, the matter was resolved peacefully.

Soon, the brothers walked into the room with their mother. As everyone gathered around, the family started to have their breakfast.

Bai Qi exchanged a gaze with his wife before announcing that the family will make a trip to S Country for the next school holiday.

It has been a while since Bai Qi had visited his family’s grave and he wanted to let them know that he now had a daughter called Bai Jing Jing.

Of course, the brothers were happy, knowing that the family was going to travel.

Bai Jing Jing saw that her elder brother was cheering happily and decided to join him as well even though she could not understand what was going on.

After having their breakfast, Bai Xi Xi headed to her room to read her books.

It might be a while before the next test, but Bai Xi Xi always wanted to get ready earlier.

Knock! Knock!

The knocking sound on her door made Bai Xi Xi look up. Soon, Bai Xiang entered her room with the usual sheepish smile on his face.

Seeing the look on his face made Bai Xi Xi chuckle. Knowing Bai Xiang for so long, how can Bai Xi Xi not be able to guess that this boy came to find her for something?

However, Bai Xi Xi planned to pretend as if she did not understand anything. “Bai Cai? What is it? Do you need help studying? Come over and sit with me. I will help you with your homework.”

Bai Xiang heaved a long sigh. “Aunt, aren’t you tired of studying for a long time?”

“It’s not tiring. I happen to like reading books.”

Bai Xiang looked at his aunt in frustration. “Aunt, reading books are good, but you have to remember to exercise as well. That’s right. I heard that sitting for too long isn’t good for one’s body. Aunt, you have to go out and move around. Look at the trees and such.”

Bai Xi Xi thought that her eldest nephew can be quite dramatic sometimes. She wondered just where did this boy get this attitude. Her brother and sister-in-law did not have this personality.

“What do you think I should do then?”

Bai Xiang smiled brightly. He walked over to his aunt and held her hand tightly. “Aunt, let’s go to the park today, alright? Take me and Qi Lin out to play. Un. There’s some exercise equipment that you can use as well. Then, later... can we go and have some ice cream?”

Bai Xi Xi laughed. All those talks... In the end, Bai Cai only wanted to go and eat ice cream, right?
