702 Joining the School’s Basketball Team?

Fu Chen wanted to leave. But after seeing that Bai Xi Xi had already ordered her ice cream and was waiting for him, Fu Chen randomly pointed at a flavor.

Fu Chen had paid for her ice creams a few times. Bai Xi Xi was embarrassed to let Fu Chen pay for her ice cream again. After all, she did not lack of money.

The air conditioner was blowing gently. The temperature was hot outside and staying inside the store made her feel comfortable.

The last time, someone saw them together and created a rumor that they were dating. Because of that, Fu Chen wanted to be extra careful when he was with Bai Xi Xi. He was afraid that someone might see them and create another rumor.

Of course, Bai Xi Xi noticed the way he behaved. She could not help thinking that Fu Chen was such a strange man.

Lowering her gaze, Bai Xi Xi started to eat her ice cream. The taste of mango ice cream was refreshing. Once the sweet flavor coated her tongue, Bai Xi Xi could not help but smile.

Then, she looked at Fu Chen again and saw that he had not touched his mint-flavored ice cream. “Are you not going to eat your ice cream? It’s going to melt soon.”

Hearing her voice, Fu Chen snapped out of his trance and started to scoop some ice cream into his mouth. His brow furrowed as the cold taste touched his tongue.

Fu Chen checked his ice cream again and finally realized that he had ordered a cup of mint-flavored ice cream. Just now, he was not paying attention and had ordered at random.

He did not mind eating mint-flavored ice cream, but it was not something that he would usually order. However, since he had already ordered and paid for them, Fu Chen had no other choice but to eat them.

“What is it that you wanted to say to me? ” Bai Xi Xi asked. She recalled the way Fu Chen has been standing by the basketball court after school today and spoke, “Are you thinking about joining the school’s basketball team?”

Fu Chen was surprised that Bai Xi Xi managed to guess his intention. “I have thought about it.” A smile that did not reach his eyes appeared on his lips. “But last time, the team had rejected my application.”

Fu Chen ate his ice cream and bit at his spoon. Then, he looked at Bai Xi Xi again. “Do you think that they will accept me?”

“Your skill is quite good. Why wouldn’t they reject you?” Bai Xi Xi asked. “The last time they rejected you, it was only because of Jian Chi. Since he did not like you, the others decided not to accept you as well.”

Fu Chen laughed. Until now, he did not understand what sort of enmity did he have with Jian Chi. He had only transferred to Y City High School. Prior to that, Fu Chen was sure that he had never met Jian Chi before.

Bai Xi Xi sighed. “Jian Chi was the sort of person who could not see that others were better than him. You have been quite popular ever since you moved to our school, especially among girls. Because of that, Jian Chi did not like you.”

The smile on his face gradually disappeared. Fu Chen had never thought that this was the reason Jian Chi was always hostile toward him.

“The last time he asked you to play a basketball match with him, it was only because he wanted to humiliate you,” Bai Xi Xi continued. “You should have noticed how most girls had stopped being around you after you lost.”

Of course, Fu Chen remembered that day clearly.

He was just happy that someone had asked him to play basketball. Fu Chen wanted to show off his skill. However, his teammates were not that good. He was playing the game alone against Jian Chi and his team.

It turned out that everything was what Jian Chi had planned. He wanted him to lose badly and he did just that.

He could still remember how embarrassed he was when he lost.

Of course, Fu Chen knew that his teammates could not match Jian Chi. But Fu Chen had never thought that Jian Chi wanted to embarrass him. He kept thinking that perhaps he had lost because he was being overconfident.

Fu Chen thought that he has been very naive. He wondered if that was the reason Jian Chi had rejected him when he asked to join the basketball team.

“Now that Jian Chi was not around, I don’t think the basketball team would reject you again,” Bai Xi Xi continued. “You should have realized that the team was bad without Jian Chi around. With their current state, they would lose badly. They will have no other choice but to accept you in their team.”

Fu Chen hesitated.

Listening to Bai Xi Xi’s words made him wonder if he should go and ask again if he could join the team. But, he was also afraid that he would be rejected again.

“Fu Chen, I have seen the way you played and believe that you would be a good addition to the team,” Bai Xi Xi said. “You really should go and join them.”
